  Works... most of the time

  So far nosotros have used the garmin for about 3000 miles of RV travel. It seems to piece of work pretty well. We take had a could times that is took u.s. on the long route when I don't recollect it was necessary and two times that we concluded up in a construction detour on some back roads that could accept been avoided information technology nosotros followed google.

  I am glad we have information technology and will continue to use information technology to guide our way. We are but a fiddling more diligent about looking at other apps earlier we go out to verify the routes.

  ps. When information technology lead us a stray we did verify that there were improve routes after the fact.

  890 good, merely could exist better

  I am very happy with this GPS after a 2800 mile trip, but there are some things that would meliorate it. First, information technology would be nice if information technology showed the trouble with a route (low bridge, weight restriction, propane). It tried to force us on a route that added 1 1/two hours to our trip because of a perceived weight event on I83, around exit 21. Of class, we didn't know what it thought the problem was until we got there (yes, nosotros ignored the recommended route). I am pretty sure it was non an actual trouble as at that place were several eighteen wheelers on that road and no weight restriction notifications. I desire to know why we can't take a particular road, rather than just trust the GPS blindly. We used another RV app, which does testify issues along the route, before making the determination that we could go alee and take our preferred route.
  Likewise, it would be great if it offered a few road options, rather than merely a single route. I didn't want to place the 890 on the windshield then I purchased an adhesive disk and placed information technology on the dashboard. The window mountain for the 890 worked dandy on the disk.

  Techno RV customer service is outstanding. The Garmin 890 paid for itself on the first twenty-four hours of our 2 week trip. We were headed to Alpine, Tx for a stop over and the Garmin kept routing me off the highway and into boondocks from the north. I didn't concur so I stayed on the highway. Just every bit nosotros got into town the Garmin had u.s.a. turn into a residential area and accept back streets to the RV park. I stopped in the road to cheque the route and a nice couple stopped to make sure we were OK. I explained the road consequence and he said information technology had routed me around a low span and gave us directions to the RV park that matched the Garmin. When we checked into the RV park I told the owner most the route and she said I would have ripped the peak off my fifth cycle on the bridge. A quick check of google world and I found the bridge that I had to go nether and it was eight" lower than the superlative of my 5th cycle. The Garmin saved the trip and easily paid for itself.
  The reason I didn't give the gps a 5 star rating is because data input and searches are non every bit easy as they are with other gps/mapping software. I now practice all of my routing/mapping the night before the trip. I highly recommend the Garmin 890 and highly highly recommend Techno RV.

  I got this unit then I would be routed based on the size of my RV. This is going slap-up, and in addition it is easy to employ and I love the magnetic mount that makes it like shooting fish in a barrel to take the screen on and off of the mount.
